Views on Escorting Pt. 1

After reading "How the Shutdown of Backpage Disproportionate Affects Trans Workers" from Vice.com it made me wonder how others and myself view prostitution or sex work. Although it is frowned upon in most countries there are several cities around the world where it is seen as a job preference and a source of entertainment. Including Las Vegas in the United States. Just because it is legal doesn't mean that you can't find these services and individuals outside the area. It exist in every state and probably every country.

If you have never heard of Backpage, it's a classifieds site like craigslist where you can find anything from apartments, cars, electronics, jobs...you name it. The site also had a section only for adults where you could find a significant other or a one night stand. The site has came across many problems with the feds and police enforcement in the past due to its lack of control in the "adult" section. So much, they voluntarily took that part of the site out. These issues were major violations of the law in which users were promoting sex for money and worst of all child and women were being trafficked. There are an unlimited amount of creeps out there preying on these children and exploiting women against their will.

This is my thought.....In many senses we are allowed to do whatever we want with our bodies. The transgender community along with other users may rely on sites like Backpage to perform their work safely rather than on the streets. Life in America all depends on money and everyone deserves the right to choose how to make that money as long as it is parallel with their cities laws. Escorting is risky in general so I do not encourage it as a first choice for a job but if an individual relies on that income it should be done with caution. It is very difficult to screen in between individuals who have no intentions of doing harm and those who do.

More on this later........
