It's a "Chemical Culture". Have You Noticed?

I am sure everyone's heard that red meat is bad for you and that certain products are harmful. We all have.

There are tv commercials, vegans all over Instagram and Facebook, new articles and YouTube videos. But we still fail to understand the reasons behind avoiding certain foods and products. I came across a meme a few months back that expressed the chemical culture we live in today. On a daily basis we use shampoos loaded with toxins such as parabens which are carcinogens (chemicals linked to cancer). Parabens have been thought to act as the female hormone estrogen which can increase the growth of a breast tumor. These parabens are also in your deodorants which go on your sweat glands near the breast. They can clog up the pores with its toxins and also trap the bacteria that is meant to come out. Hence, the reason I decided to detox my underarms and switch to Crystal Deodorant that has less toxins and is a little more natural using salt as an absorbent. After a shower, we move on to using lotion than spraying on some perfume or cologne. We head to our closets to choose clothing we’ve washed with harsh detergents and softeners that go on our skin. Then we start our days by loading up on bacon that comes in packaging filled with preservatives and eating cans of "veggies".
The point is we have fallen into this norm of buying products that have been around for years unknowingly using them and increasing our chances of cancers. I think that people who have lived over 100 years old can say they have ate a little cleaner than those of us today and have not used as many toxin-filled products. It seems more people are dying in their 40’s and 50’s from heart disease and cancer than in past generations. Anyone under 40 isn’t exempt because we load up on fatty fast foods and use products loaded with chemicals.
Although, cancer is sometimes inevitable, certain diseases are preventable taking the right steps. I am not saying you should stop touching everything around you and only eat natural products but little steps like replacing a deodorant, increasing your water intake, decreasing your soda intake, eat a green or a fruit at least once a day or cutting back on cigarettes will let you live a longer healthier life.

P.S. Watch “Forks Over Knives” on Netflix if you get the chance.

Random thoughts

·         Schools and networks should give more information on healthy lifestyles and be more specific on the effects since the government won’t talk about it publicly (all about the $$$)

·         Organic foods and natural products shouldn’t have to be so expensive. You would think if you’re using less chemicals to make stuff it would be cheaper

·         Businesses and companies should consider the effects of toxins and maybe rethink their formulas of products
